PCS, a company specialized in frozen products, boosts the efficiency and capacity of its new production plant with intralogistics solutions from Jungheinrich, consolidating a collaboration of more than 25 years
PCS (Productos Congelados Selectos) and Jungheinrich consolidate a relationship of trust that has developed over more than 25 years and that today takes a new step forward with the launch of a new plant specialized in multiproduct prepared products.
"With this new logistics infrastructure we have managed to make an important leap at an operational level. The entire process is designed to work in a much more efficient and automated way, with more control and with a much greater capacity," explains Jorge Álvarez, Engineering Director of PCS.
A logistics designed to connect production, storage and shipping
"One of the great challenges was to connect in an efficient way the production, storage and shipping areas, maintaining product traceability and optimizing each movement," highlights Alberto Chust, Logistics Director of PCS.
In the production area, PCS operates with different Jungheinrich material handling solutions adapted to each specific need. The EFG electric counterbalanced forklifts mainly carry out line supply tasks and internal goods movements in the manufacturing areas. For their part, the ERC electric stackers allow stacking and transport of loads to be managed safely and efficiently, optimizing the available space. The ERD electric pallet trucks complete the operation by facilitating the simultaneous transport of two pallets, which contributes significantly to increasing productivity between production and storage.
Maximum use of storage space
Once the production process is finished, the goods go to the warehouse, where the EKX turret trucks play an essential role in maximizing the available storage capacity.
Thanks to their ability to work in very narrow aisles and at great heights, these units make it possible to increase storage density without compromising safety or operational precision. In this way, PCS achieves optimal use of the available space and maintains exhaustive control of the traceability of each item.
The operation is completed in the shipping phase by means of ERE order pickers, which streamline the movement of goods and the order preparation processes.

In addition to the reliability of the equipment, PCS highlights the importance of having a partner capable of offering continuous support and a rapid response capacity.
