Air Europa and Iberia will resume this September their round-trip flights with Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, Caracas (Venezuela), after the interruption caused by the earthquakes recorded in the Latin American country last June.
In the case of Air Europa, the airline will resume from tomorrow Tuesday the direct route between Madrid and the Venezuelan capital. During July and August, the company had maintained its operations with Venezuela through Arturo Michelena International Airport in Valencia, a solution that Iberia also adopted during that period.
"We are pleased to reconnect Caracas with our usual network of destinations and to continue accompanying you on your upcoming trips," Air Europa has stated on its website.
For its part, Iberia will reopen its direct link with Caracas starting next Thursday, with an initial schedule of three weekly flights —Monday, Thursday, and Sunday—, as confirmed by the airline to Europa Press.
The air operations with Venezuela have faced issues since late 2025, when the Venezuelan government decided to suspend the flight licenses of Air Europa, Plus Ultra, and Iberia, after these companies refused to operate in the country following the United States issuing a warning to "exercise extreme caution" for aircraft flying over Venezuelan airspace.
Nevertheless, Air Europa managed to restore its connections in mid-February of this year, while Plus Ultra resumed its flights on March 3 and Iberia announced its return in April.
Later, the earthquakes in June forced a review and adjustment of the flight plans with Caracas again, until, with the return of September, the airlines begin to recover the usual operations with the Venezuelan capital.
