The National Logistics Plan 2050 of Brazil has begun to be implemented this Wednesday with the aim of launching key infrastructures to strengthen the country's economic growth and boost its exports. To this end, a total volume of 1.225 trillion reais (205.188 million euros) will be mobilized through a combination of public and private resources.
The initiative seeks to resolve the bottlenecks that currently hinder Brazilian logistics chains through a collaboration scheme between the State and companies. In this distribution, the public sector will take on projects valued at 490.500 million reais (82.159 million euros), while private investment will reach the remaining 734.400 million reais (123.012 million euros).
The PNL includes interventions in the road network, railways, waterways, ports, and airports. The expansion of railway and road corridors, the improvement of river routes, and the modernization of port infrastructures are planned with the goal of gaining external competitiveness and reducing logistics costs.
At the same time, the roadmap has been designed with a comprehensive vision that aims to reduce territorial disparities, with an emphasis on the North and Northeast regions of the country, and incorporates sustainability parameters, adaptation to climate change, emission mitigation, and biodiversity preservation.
"For a long time, Brazil has chosen projects and then sought a strategy to justify them. In the PNL 2050, we have done the opposite. First, we defined what Brazil we want to build and then what problems we need to solve. Only then have we started to discuss what investments make sense," said the Minister of Transport, George Santoro, in statements to "Agência Brasil".
