The second vice president and minister of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, has attributed "fundamentally" to the extraordinary regularization the increase in unemployment registered in September. At the same time, she has focused on the progress of affiliation to Social Security and has announced that the Government will approve a new increase in the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI), as well as the laws on occupational risk prevention and time registration.
"This is fundamentally due to the effect of the regularization carried out by the Government," Díaz has explained, who has pointed out that "hundreds of thousands of neighbors who lived and worked in Spain are now registering both in Social Security and in unemployment."
In her analysis of the labor market figures corresponding to the ninth month of the year, the head of Labor has described the situation as "excellent news" that demonstrates that "generating rights improves the economy and is also good for companies."
The minister has emphasized that registered unemployment has decreased by 42,160 people in the last twelve months and that female unemployment remains at its lowest level for a month of September since 2008. In addition, she has highlighted that the affiliation of women to Social Security grew in September by 90,860 workers, surpassing the threshold of 10.5 million.
Díaz has also highlighted that 44.3% of the contracts signed in September were of an indefinite nature and that the coverage rate of unemployment benefits reached 87.1%, which is 4.6 points higher than a year earlier and more than 26 points above 2018.
"Behind these figures are people, lives that are today more dignified and more secure," the vice president has stated, who has stressed that the Executive is not satisfied with the current data and aspires to "more stability in employment," "better working conditions," and "better wages."
In this line, she has announced that the Executive "is going to raise the SMI again" and has confirmed its intention to push forward the Occupational Risk Prevention Law and the Time Registration.
