Endesa and Red Eléctrica (REE) reported this Monday that the electricity supply in La Palma has now been fully restored, after a power blackout that lasted for nearly four hours on the island.
"We thank all the people affected for their patience and understanding during the recovery process," Endesa wrote on its 'X' profile.
The power outage, which left more than 50,500 customers without service, began at 06.38 hours this Monday as a result of a fault in the Guinchos-Valle electric transmission line, caused by the electrical storm that battered the island, which was in a maximum alert situation for rain.
The Department of Energy Transition and Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands has indicated that it maintains "close contact" with Endesa and REE to clarify the causes of what happened.
The regional department recalls that La Palma's electric system presents "structural problems" in generation, transmission and distribution and has already put the detected "deficiencies" on the table. In addition, it is working on various measures to solve them, some already operational and others advancing at a "slower than desirable" pace, with the aim of reinforcing the security of supply and preventing new similar episodes.
