The Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda is going to grant direct subsidies for a maximum total amount of 40.41 million euros, aimed at financing relocation actions, affordable or social rental housing projects, and the construction of protected housing, among other initiatives.
These aids are included in a Royal Decree published this Thursday in the Official State Gazette (BOE), which establishes the framework for their granting. These are subsidies granted for reasons of public, social, and economic interest, which explains that no public call is processed.
Among the main allocations included in the regulation, which will come into force tomorrow, stands out the maximum allocation of 15,777,360 euros to the City Council of Barcelona, intended to promote the construction of housing or accommodations for affordable or social rental.
The Barcelona city council will also have a maximum of 250,000 euros for the organization of the meeting "Housing Summit 2026".
The Community of Madrid will receive a maximum of 8,375,000 euros to facilitate the relocation of families living in Cañada Real and to undertake works of habitability, accessibility, or adaptation in the destination housing.
As part of the measures to expand the public stock of affordable or social rental housing, Housing reserves a maximum amount of 5,399,120 euros for the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona and 4 million euros for the Provincial Council of Seville.
Additionally, the public business entity Casa 47 will have a grant of up to 3,560,630 euros to promote about 90 protected housing units intended for rental in Loma Colmenar (Ceuta).
In the local and university sphere, the City Council of Éibar (Guipúzcoa) will have up to 3 million euros for building rehabilitation works and urban regeneration in the Murrategi neighborhood, while the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Pompeu Fabra University, the University of Barcelona, and the Autonomous University of Barcelona will jointly receive 50,000 euros (12,500 euros each) for training and research activities through the "Barcelona Chair of Housing Studies".
ONE-TIME PAYMENT AND EXECUTION PERIODS
The subsidies will be paid in a single advance payment. The period to execute the relocation actions, affordable rental, and urban regeneration will be up to six years, with the possibility of a maximum extension of three additional years.
In the case of the activities of the "Cátedra Barcelona," the execution period will be three years, while for the "Housing Summit 2026," it is set at one year.
In addition, the allocations of affordable or social rental housing built thanks to these aids must be carried out through the registries of housing applicants or other objective, transparent, and public systems.
