"I think the war is going to end right after the elections because they can no longer hold on. They are desperate to try to influence the elections," he stated in remarks to the press before speaking at the Republican convention held in Dallas, in the state of Texas.
With these words, Trump has tried to dissociate the electoral date from the conflict with Iran, emphasizing that the priority of the U.S. military offensive is to prevent the Islamic Republic from having a nuclear weapon. In his opinion, Iran will eventually agree to negotiate a series of points that it previously refused to address, in addition to the strictly nuclear issue.
"We are going to have nuclear energy. That is at 99.9%. But there will be many other options on the table that would not have been before," he assured when referring to the possible outcome of the war.
Regarding the rise in oil and gas prices, Trump has insisted that the energy market will also normalize after the November date. "Right after the elections, oil prices are going to collapse. They are going to collapse, and we will make them go down," he pointed out, although he admitted that the correction "is going to take a little more time" than the midterm calendar.
