Movistar Prosegur Alarmas has surpassed the barrier of 650,000 customers in Spain, which allows it to position itself in the 'top 10' worldwide by country within the private security sector. At the same time, the company has launched the marketing of a new device called "Smart Lock," as it communicated this Wednesday.

The company is confident in continuing to climb positions in this ranking in the coming years, emphasizes that in 2026 the company "is already self-sufficient," rules out for now operations for inorganic growth, and details that the Spanish alarm market has added an additional million users (a 37%) in recent years.

The CEO of Movistar Prosegur Alarmas, Diego Torrico, has recalled that the 50% 'joint venture' between Telefónica and Prosegur has managed to triple its portfolio since it began its journey in 2020 until this 2026, going from about 210,000 customers prior to its creation to the 650,000 registered in October.

With this advance – a growth of 8.33% over the 600,000 connections of October 2025 – the firm positions itself as the tenth company by size and country in the field of global security, with the expectation of "climbing a position in a short time."

At the top of the list are ADT (United States), with 6.1 million connections; followed by Secom (Japan), Vivint (USA), Verisure (Spain), Brinks (USA), Telus (Canada), SimpliSafe (USA), Verisure (France), and Homiris (France), the latter with 670,000 connections, just about 20,000 ahead of Movistar Prosegur Alarmas.

From the company, they link this "operational and commercial milestone" to a "notable acceleration" in the last two years, a period in which its customer base has increased by 30% since 2024.

"Reaching 650,000 connections confirms that our security proposal, based on innovation, operational excellence, and closeness to the customer, responds to a real need of Spanish companies and households. In the future, our intention is to continue driving our strategy in terms of profitable and responsible growth, reinforcing our ability to offer users increasingly fast, effective, and reliable protection," says Torrico.

The executive has also highlighted as a "milestone" that the company has begun to generate positive cash flow, so that in 2026 "it is already self-sufficient." "It was in the business plan, we have achieved it and our partners are delighted that this is happening," he indicated at a press conference.

Growth potential of the alarm market

The company places its evolution in a context of strong sector dynamism and recalls that the alarm market in Spain has incorporated 1.2 million customers in the last five years, which represents an increase of 50%, reaching 3.62 million connections in 2025.

In addition, it highlights the journey that the sector still presents, as "the current penetration rate of 11.9% evidences a growth potential of around 60% to match mature markets like the United States (18.8%) or Norway (18.0%)," which lead the table.

The company also emphasizes that connected security has surpassed the threshold of three million protected homes and sees a "very relevant" expansion margin: of the 19.8 million existing homes in Spain, it identifies a potential market of 6.3 million homes (32% of the total) that still do not have a connected alarm, which "ratifies the expansion prospects of the sector and a potential to double the stock within the alarm industry."

To continue growing, Movistar Prosegur Alarmas relies on a network of agreements with "leading" companies in five strategic areas: insurance, banking, retail, energy, and logistics. Among these alliances stands out the "strategic" collaboration with Santander – "we believe we have a lot of future ahead," Torrico states – as well as the insurance agreements with Occident (in effect for almost three years) and Allianz (signed in the last year), in addition to other agreements with Carrefour, Feníe Energía, and Correos.

Launch of the new Smart Lock

In parallel, Movistar Prosegur Alarmas announced this Wednesday its new "Smart Lock," a device that fully integrates with the existing alarm system and that, according to the company, adds an "extra layer" of security, control, and convenience for users.

The product incorporates a "maximum" security cylinder, early detection capabilities, and immediate response with notification to the police, as well as the possibility of remote opening in emergency situations.

Among its advantages, the company highlights that it facilitates a more thorough control of access: it allows entering the home without using physical keys –although it maintains compatibility with the traditional key if the customer prefers– and includes an automatic locking system, as explained by the commercial director, Fernando Saldaña.

"The new solution combines the physical reinforcement of the door with digital security, offering advanced functionalities such as remote opening and closing, detailed logging of entries and exits, as well as the granting of temporary virtual keys for guests or services," the company complements in a statement.
