Santander recorded this Wednesday a decline of nearly 4% at the start of the stock market session, after reporting a net profit of 11.176 billion euros in the first nine months of 2026, which represents an increase of 16.1% compared with the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Around 10:15 a.m., the entity's shares were falling 3.69%, to 10.85 euros, placing them among the worst-performing stocks in the market in those first moments of trading.
The bank has detailed that the 11.176 billion correspond to ordinary profit, a figure in which Santander does not include the net capital gain of 1.895 billion euros derived from the sale of the Poland business, partially offset by costs of 666 million linked to the integration of TSB and Webster.
Including this non-recurring item, attributable net profit rose to 12.405 billion euros, 20% more. Total income (gross margin) between January and September reached 46.713 billion, which implies an interannual increase of 8%, "a reflection of greater activity and customer engagement, and the growth in volumes across all global businesses," according to what the group has indicated.
Within this figure, net interest income (interest margin) increased 9.5%, to 34.545 billion euros.
Net commissions advanced 8.9%, to 10.349 billion, while the result from financial operations (ROF) was reduced by 34.7%, to 1.079 billion euros, and dividend income rebounded 35.8%, to 759 million.
