The Council of Ministers has given the green light this Tuesday for the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM), an agency attached to the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, to make a contribution of 30,000 euros to the Ibero-American Program for Industrial Property and Development Promotion (IBEPI) corresponding to the fiscal year 2026.
The IBEPI, promoted by Spain and ratified at the Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government in 2011, has been promoting collaboration in the field of industrial property among the states of the Ibero-American community since 2012.
Among the central goals of the program are the strengthening of the management of industrial property assets, the exchange of information between offices and productive sectors, the promotion of regional cooperation, and the dissemination of Spanish and Portuguese as reference languages in industrial property matters.
According to the references from the Council of Ministers, the economic contribution of the OEPM is framed within the commitment made by the State to this program, especially relevant given that Spain will assume the "pro tempore" presidency of the IBEPI in 2026.
