The Banco de España has signed an agreement with the Real Academia Española (RAE) under which the central bank becomes part of the Pan-Hispanic Network for Clear and Accessible Language, thus reinforcing its commitment to understandable communication within reach of all citizens, particularly in the economic and financial sphere.

As the Banco de España has noted in a statement, the agreement establishes a stable framework of collaboration with the RAE, which serves as the Network’s Coordinating Secretariat, through which both entities will cooperate on actions, initiatives, and projects aimed at promoting the use of clear and accessible language.

By virtue of this incorporation, the Banco de España undertakes to take part in the activities and initiatives promoted by the Pan-Hispanic Network for Clear and Accessible Language, as well as to launch actions and projects that encourage, disseminate, and facilitate the use of clear language, paying special attention to the economic-financial field.

It also undertakes to collaborate with the RAE in the implementation of the measures necessary to develop the commitments, initiatives, and projects that arise within the Network, in addition to encouraging new adhesions that strengthen this structure and contribute to the fulfillment of its founding purposes.

The Pan-Hispanic Network was created in 2022 at the initiative of the RAE and brings together public and private institutions, state powers, the Spanish-language academies integrated in the Association of Academies of the Spanish Language (Asale), universities, professional organizations, and civil society entities. At present, more than 620 institutions from various Spanish-speaking countries are part of it.

Its purpose is to coordinate efforts to ensure the population’s right to understand laws, regulations, and public-interest communications, thus reinforcing democratic quality and the full exercise of citizenship.
