The Government has indicated that, as of August 31, there are a total of 337,917 foreign individuals regularized who are already listed as affiliated with Social Security, compared to the nearly 40,000 who "have gone to the employment offices since the process began."
The Secretary of State for Labor, Joaquín Pérez Rey, has stated at the press conference evaluating the unemployment and Social Security affiliation data that "the process remains open" and that, consequently, "a detailed analysis will need to be done when it ends." However, he pointed out that most of those who have gone to the employment offices would have done so to carry out "merely bureaucratic" procedures, as "it can be a preliminary step to the formalization of employment contracts."
Pérez Rey emphasized that "the regularization has given these individuals the right to have public employment services" and that "it has given companies the opportunity to formalize contracts once these individuals have registered as job seekers."
Similarly, he highlighted that "the vast majority of these individuals who have gone to the employment offices would be in the category of without previous employment."
On the other hand, the Secretary of State for Social Security and Pensions, Borja Suárez, has detailed that as of August 31 there are "exactly 337,917 regularized individuals who are affiliated with Social Security" and added that "around 80% of these individuals are in the General Regime."
Suárez has also reiterated that "the process remains open," so he insisted that it is necessary to wait for its conclusion to carry out a complete evaluation of its results.
