The IBEX 35 faces the opening of Monday at 19,961.50 points after briefly surpassing 20,000 during the last session. Santander, ArcelorMittal, and Amadeus boosted the index, while Sacyr, Ferrovial, and Telefónica limited the advance.
The main index of the Spanish Stock Exchange closed the last session with an increase of 0.76% and reached an intraday high of 20,020.80 points. However, it did not manage to maintain that level at the close.
The opening on Monday places 20,000 points again as the main reference of the Spanish market. It would not be the first break: the IBEX 35 closed above that level at the beginning of August and subsequently marked highs above 20,200 points before starting a correction.
Santander leads the rises of the IBEX 35
Banco Santander led the advances of the last session with an increase of 2.65%, up to 12.55 euros per share.
ArcelorMittal rose 2.29% and closed at 62.56 euros, while Amadeus gained 1.49%, up to 57.26 euros.

BBVA rose 1.26%, up to 24.82 euros; Inditex advanced 1.11%, up to 58.22 euros, and Banco Sabadell gained 1.10%, up to 3.68 euros.
Also finishing positively were Solaria, with an increase of 1.06%, and IAG, which rose 1%.
The weight of the large banks was decisive for the index to recover 19,900 points. The six sessions of declines accumulated during the previous days had distanced the selective from its highs.
Sacyr, Ferrovial, and Telefónica slow down the index
Sacyr was the most bearish stock of the session, with a decline of 1.88%, down to 4.29 euros.
Ferrovial lost 1.65% and closed at 53.76 euros. Telefónica fell 1.23%, down to 3.622 euros.

Enagás lost 0.89%, while Grifols fell 0.86%.
These declines prevented the IBEX 35 from consolidating the barrier recovered during the session at the close. The behavior of the index does not depend solely on the number of companies that rise or fall: the movements of the stocks with greater weighting have a superior effect on the final result.
The references of the IBEX 35 for the opening of Monday
The first signal of the session will be to check if the index opens above 19,960 points and recovers with volume the barrier of 20,000.
A consolidation above that level would again direct attention towards the recent maximum of 20,356.50 points. If the market retreats, the range between 19,850 and 19,900 points will act as the first nearby reference.
These levels describe the recent behavior of the index, but do not guarantee its evolution. The session will also depend on the opening of European stock markets, the bond market, commodities, and corporate news.
