The companies specialized in the sale of furniture in Spain reached revenues of 4.160 billion euros in 2025, which represents an increase of 3.1% compared to the previous year, after the advance of 1.5% recorded in 2024, according to data from the DBK Sectorial Observatory of Informa (a subsidiary of Cesce).

This growth was supported by the good moment of the real estate market, the pull of demand linked to renovations and the furnishing of second homes, as well as by the greater investment effort in collective use spaces.

By areas of activity, retail sales of home furniture stood at 2.880 billion euros in 2025, which accounted for 69% of the global market value and an advance of 2.9% compared to 2024.

Boost of the residential market and evolution by segments

The positive trajectory of the residential market and renovation actions were the main supports for the increase in this type of furniture. In turn, the kitchen furniture segment concentrated 17.9% of the total, with a turnover of 745 million euros, 3.5% higher; while office furniture revenues rose by 4.3%, to 365 million euros, which represents 8.8% of the total.

It is estimated that specialized retail accounted for around 87% of retail furniture sales in 2025, with the remaining percentage in the hands of hypermarkets, department stores, and DIY stores. Regarding the online channel, it is estimated that it already exceeds 23% of the value of sales, considering furniture, lighting, and home products.

As for the future of the sector, Informa forecasts that the turnover of retail furniture will continue on a growth path in the short and medium term, although at a more moderate pace than in recent years, in a scenario marked by greater household spending restraint and the rising cost of financing. By mid-2026, around 5,450 companies dedicated to the retail sale of furniture, lighting fixtures, tableware, and other household items in specialized establishments were operating in Spain.

In this line, Informa highlights that the presence of large chains, both branch and franchising, as well as buying groups operating under the same brand, continues to gain weight. Thus, the combined share of the five main operators in the sector exceeded 49% in 2025.
