The second vice president of the Government and head of Labor and Social Economy, Yolanda Díaz, expressed this Thursday that she feels "profoundly distressed" by the death of Fátima Báñez, former minister and president of the CEOE Foundation, in the railway accident recorded yesterday in the province of Toledo.

In a post on her Bluesky profile, disseminated by Europa Press, Díaz highlighted that Báñez devoted her career to public service, holding the portfolio of Employment and Social Security for seven years.

"My most heartfelt embrace to all her family and to her colleagues from the PP and from the CEOE Foundation that she chaired," the second vice president said.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Economy has also shared on its social networks a message in which it deeply "regrets" the death of Fátima Báñez. "We convey our most sincere condolences to her family and loved ones. May she rest in peace," the Ministry added.
