What weight does the result from Spain have in the Brazilian election
Madrid and Barcelona are the two cities authorized to vote in Spain. In Madrid, voters have gone to the Colegio Blanca de Castilla.
The votes cast in Spain are incorporated into the Brazilian national total. There is no distribution of delegates by country: each vote counts individually to decide the Presidency.
If this advance is confirmed, Spain would provide Lula with a net advantage of 5,004 votes over Bolsonaro. This difference contributes to the overall result, but does not allow for anticipation. The electorate residing in Spain does not constitute a representative sample of the whole of Brazil.
Participation cannot be deduced from the 13,582 ballots attributed to both candidates. To calculate it, it is necessary to know the total number of voters, including those who voted blank or null, and the corresponding census.
When will the official results be known
The results portal of the Superior Electoral Court allows following the totalization of the election. The publication of results begins at 17:00 in Brasilia, equivalent to 21:00 in mainland Spain and 20:00 in the Canary Islands after the change to winter time.
