Elecciones generales del 29 de noviembre · Demócrata

The victory of Lula da Silva in Brazil has crossed the Atlantic and has fully entered the Spanish pre-campaign. Pedro Sánchez has led the political conversation on social media this Monday with a congratulatory message to the Brazilian president, in which he compares his electoral comeback with what he hopes will happen in Spain on the next 29th of November. The post has surpassed 125,000 interactions and occupies the first place in the Digital Power ranking of Demócrata.

Spanish politics has also found space among the musical trends on TikTok. Irene Montero appears alongside Gabriel Rufián in a video recorded during the rally in Nou Barris, Barcelona, to the rhythm of Fashion Killa, by Bad Gyal.

What is trending on social media

These are the results of The conversation on social media, the Digital Power section by Vinces that allows tracking the posts of Spanish politicians with the most interactions on X, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.

The latest ranking includes 1,572 posts shared in the last 30 hours.

Lula and Sánchez's "comeback of progressivism"

"Great victory of @LulaOficial! What has happened in Brazil will happen in Spain. The comeback of global progressivism has just begun". With this message published early Monday on X, Pedro Sánchez has celebrated the re-election of the Brazilian president and has drawn a parallel with the Spanish general elections.

Lula managed to impose himself this Sunday in the second round of the presidential elections in Brazil after his rival, Flávio Bolsonaro, son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, had finished ahead in the first round. According to the results communicated by the Brazilian Superior Electoral Court, Lula obtained around 51.8% of the valid votes, a narrow victory that will allow him to continue in the Presidency.

In the first round, Bolsonaro had managed to gather a good part of the conservative vote and arrived at this second round with options to regain power for his political space. After the defeat was known, the right-wing candidate questioned the electoral result and announced his intention to challenge it.

Sánchez's congratulatory message has accumulated 125,710 interactions, including more than 104,000 likes, 16,500 shares, and 4,300 comments.

Irene Montero and Gabriel Rufián to the rhythm of Bad Gyal

The second post with the most interactions has a very different tone. Irene Montero has shared on TikTok a video alongside Gabriel Rufián during a rally held in Nou Barris, Barcelona, using as background music Fashion Killa, by the Catalan singer Bad Gyal.

The video joins a viral trend on TikTok that uses that song to accompany images of iconic couples or duos. To the rhythm of the lyrics, you and I, fashion killa', like riri and rocky look at us. It is not the first time that the candidate for the general elections for Podemos has joined a trend on TikTok. Montero shares almost daily videos or compilations of photos with current music. On her social media profiles, she has acknowledged being a fan of artists like Metrika or Bad Gyal.

The joint appearance of both leaders also has an electoral reading. Podemos and ERC have agreed to run together in Catalonia for the general elections on November 29 and the one on Saturday, October 24, was the first joint event of ERC and Podemos after their electoral agreement, under the slogan Home, life, future. Both leaders defended a left capable of conditioning the PSOE, with housing as the main demand.

Montero's post has gathered 121,215 interactions and more than 964,000 views in the analyzed period. A good part of its dissemination comes from likes and shares, which exceed 97,000 and 23,000, respectively.

Ada Colau brings Lula's victory to a rally in Móstoles

The third most notable post also features Brazil as the protagonist, although it was recorded before the final election results were known. Ada Colau shared on Instagram a video of her event on Sunday in Móstoles, in which she asked attendees to raise their hands forming an L with their fingers in support of Lula.

"From Móstoles to Brazil, the Frente Amplio is with Lula," wrote the candidate for the Presidency of the Government. The gesture, used by the followers of the Brazilian leader, turned a Spanish political rally into a display of international support for a few seconds.

Colau was accompanied by Emilio Delgado, head of the list of Frente Amplio for Madrid, and Toni Valero, candidate of Izquierda Unida. The event served to present the coalition's proposals and to distance itself from both the right and the PSOE. The former mayor of Barcelona accused the socialists of merely managing inequality instead of combating it and defended that Frente Amplio must have the capacity to promote more ambitious policies in housing and social rights.

Colau's video has accumulated 32,561 interactions and more than 117,000 views.

The welcome to Maria Corina Machado also marks the conversation

Beyond the three protagonists of the day, Pedro Sánchez reappears among the posts with the most interactions, this time with a video in which he runs alongside the first vice president of the Government and Minister of Economy, Carlos Cuerpo. Under the message "Let's go for four more!", both take advantage of the run to make a nod to the elections on November 29 and the possibility of continuing for another four years in Government.

Venezuelan current affairs have also been prominent. Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo appears three times among the ten most popular posts, two of them related to María Corina Machado's return to Venezuela. The PP leader has celebrated her return and has demanded guarantees for her safety and the holding of free elections.

For her part, Isabel Díaz Ayuso has also wanted to welcome María Corina Machado with a message on X in which she writes "Welcome home," accompanied by the flags of Venezuela and Spain. Her post has achieved 15,762 interactions.

Completing the ranking are Alvise Pérez, with a video on Instagram, and Gabriel Rufián, who shares on TikTok a post of his rally with Montero in Nou Barris, with the message "Catalunya loves you."
