The PNV has announced that it will support in Congress the housing decree that includes tax bonuses and measures of protection against evictions, while it will oppose the text that proposes the automatic renewal of rental contracts.
Both decrees have already been published in the Official State Gazette and will be submitted to a vote this Friday in the Plenary of Congress, which must decide whether to validate or repeal them. In relation to the decree that they will support, the Basque nationalists detect "important shortcomings" and define it as a "patch that will not solve a long-standing problem."
The spokesperson in Congress, Maribel Vaqueo, has pointed out that her group will give a "critical" support to the first decree, understanding that it helps to curb abuses and improves the position of small property owners "despite its disastrous drafting."
Through a publication on X, she has warned, however, that "it is not the solution." "What has not been done in eight years cannot be fixed in a decree law," she emphasized. Immediately afterwards, she confirmed that she will vote against the other decree considering that it "penalizes the small property owner."
