One of the last interviews of Maricarmen Abascal before being evicted from the home she had lived in for 71 years left a harsh criticism of the three administrations with housing-related competencies in Madrid. The woman, who passed away this Wednesday at the age of 87, pointed to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez; the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso; and the mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez-Almeida.
The interview was recorded by the Territorial News of Madrid from RTVE on September 22, a day before her eviction was carried out. When directly asked who she considered responsible for the situation she was going through, Maricarmen began by pointing to the head of the Executive.
"To Pedro Sánchez. Doesn't he realize the number of evictions that happen daily? Doesn't he realize or doesn't he want to realize?", she replied.
Maricarmen immediately extended her criticisms to the regional and municipal administrations. Regarding Isabel Díaz Ayuso, she stated that the Presidency of the Community of Madrid "is a bit too much for her", while about José Luis Martínez-Almeida she asserted that "the only thing he is doing is ruining Madrid".

"They are inhumans"
The woman also directed some of her harshest words against Urbagestión, the company that owns the housing. When asked about it, she appealed to the situation that the relatives of those responsible could face in the future and labeled them as "inhumans".
During the interview, Maricarmen also recounted the weariness that the conflict had caused her over the previous years and expressed her rejection of the transformation that, in her opinion, Madrid had undergone. "I am leaving Madrid because Madrid is no longer Madrid", she stated when talking about a city that she considered increasingly oriented towards tourism.
The interview took on a new dimension after the eviction. A fragment in which Maricarmen exclusively blamed Sánchez circulated widely on social networks, although the complete video shows that immediately afterward she extended her reproaches to Ayuso and Almeida.
Maricarmen was finally evicted on September 23 and transferred to the Gregorio Marañón Hospital. Subsequently, she reached an agreement with the property to return to the building when she received her discharge, with a new eight-year contract and a rent of around 500 euros per month, although she had not yet signed it.
Her death this Wednesday has brought back that interview, in which Maricarmen expressed her criticisms of both the central Government and the Community and the City Council of Madrid just a few hours before the eviction.
