PP, Vox, and the non-attached deputy Francisco Cardona have halted this Wednesday in the Parlament the appearance of the conseller of the Sea and Water Cycle, Juan Manuel Lafuente, requested by MÉS per Mallorca to detail and defend the approved measures that sought to "eliminate or limit the reports on water resources in some urban projects."
During the Commission of Territorial Planning, Housing, Mobility, Sea, and Water Cycle, the groups analyzed the request from the ecosoberanists and ultimately rejected it. PP, Vox, and Cardona voted against, while MÉS per Mallorca, PSIB, and the deputy from Formentera, Llorenç Córdoba, supported the initiative.
In the same session, the PP brought to debate a non-legislative proposal (PNL) regarding the reform of the state land legislation in order to address the housing emergency. The initiative was approved with 13 votes in favor and only one against, that of MÉS per Mallorca.
Through this PNL, the Parlament demands that the central Government promote the reform of the Land Law to respond to the housing emergency situations suffered by territories under strong demographic and tourist pressure, such as the Balearic Islands.
The Balearic chamber also urges the State to promote regulatory changes that allow for the acceleration of the necessary urban transformations to have final land designated for the construction of affordable and protected housing.
Furthermore, it demands progress in the simplification and acceleration of urban procedures, especially in the granting of licenses and the issuance of sectorial reports, with the aim of shortening deadlines, avoiding administrative blockages, and reinforcing legal security.
The Parlament also demands that in the reform of the Land Law, the territorial peculiarities of the Balearic Islands be considered and that coordination with the autonomous communities be ensured, while guaranteeing respect for environmental sustainability criteria.
Collaboration for the Llevant train
On the other hand, the Commission has unanimously given the green light, at the proposal of Unidas Podemos (mixed group), to a non-legislative proposal related to the Levante train.
In this initiative, the Parlament urges the Govern to set a "clear and realistic" execution calendar and to ensure sufficient funding for the development of the railway line.
The Balearic Chamber asks the autonomous and state governments to establish a collaboration table between both administrations to specify the available funding routes, ensure the economic viability of the Levante train and the rest of the ongoing railway projects.
Likewise, the Parliament demands that the two Executives reserve sufficient budget items to carry out the works once the administrative processing is completed and the necessary projects are drafted to be able to tender them.
Finally, the Govern is urged to continue improving and expanding the bus network, with special attention to Son Servera, Capdepera, Cala Millor, and Cala Ratjada, through a reinforcement of frequencies, schedules, and coverage throughout the year.
It is also proposed that specific measures be implemented to reduce traffic congestion during the tourist season, with the aim of encouraging the use of public transport both among residents and visitors.
