At least four civilians have lost their lives this Friday in an attack launched by Houthi rebels against the coastal town of Moca, located in the southwest of Yemen, in a context of increasing military escalation between the insurgency and the Yemeni government recognized by the international community.
According to military sources consulted by the Sabanew news agency, linked to the Presidential Leadership Council, the provisional death toll currently stands at four people, all of whom were civilians.
According to these same sources, the Houthis would have fired a total of six missiles at residential areas of Moca, in the western part of Taiz province, causing casualties and material damage in the area.
Hours before the attack, the spokesman for the Yemeni Army, Colonel Majid Abdulá al Nuzaily, had indicated that his troops are carrying out "effective operations against elements and capabilities of the Houthi terrorist militia on various fronts, inflicting significant human and material losses on them."
For his part, the military spokesman for the Houthis, Yayha Sari, stated on his social media that "successful" attacks have been carried out against "concentrations of troops, weaponry, and Saudi warships, belonging to their allies and mercenaries, in the Moca area, with a large number of ballistic missiles."
"The attacks were precise (...) and resulted in the destruction of the vessels and the weaponry, as well as in the death and injury of dozens of Saudi soldiers," Sari assured, although for the moment the authorities of Saudi Arabia have not provided an official version of these events.
