At least five people have lost their lives this Saturday, including a small girl, and several more have been injured after an Israeli airstrike against an apartment block located in the western area of the city of Gaza, according to sources from al Shifa Hospital cited by the newspaper "Filastin".
According to this outlet, the attack attributed to the Israeli Army caused a fire in the affected apartment and resulted in injuries of varying severity to several people.
The target of the attack was the ground floor of the Al Asala building, near the Haider roundabout, in the capital of the Strip. The fatalities are Maria Hafez Michel al Najjar; her mother, Maysa Jader Ibrahim Abú Daud; Dr. Yasmin al Bubu; her mother Halum al Bubu; and the young Bilal Alí Jalil Odé, 21 years old. Maria al Najjar and her mother Maysa were of Christian faith.
At the same time, Israeli drones continue to fly over the area despite the ceasefire agreed in October 2025 as part of the proposal promoted by the United States for the future of the coastal enclave, accepted by both Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
Israeli military sources have indicated to the newspaper "The Times of Israel" that the attack was aimed at a senior official of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Alí al Amudi, who is not among the deceased. Al Amudi himself is one of the possible successors to Jalil al Haya as head of Hamas in Gaza and is currently considered the most relevant figure of the movement in the Strip.
The National Council of Palestinian Tribes has denounced this new Israeli bombing and has emphasized that more than thirty Palestinian Christians have died in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the military offensive. "Palestinian blood is one and does not differentiate between Muslims and Christians," it stated in a statement collected by the Palestinian news agency Sanad.
In parallel, in the north of the enclave, a drone attack in the vicinity of the Ansar crossing, west of the city of Gaza, has resulted in one death and numerous serious injuries, while airstrikes and gunfire have intensified in the eastern neighborhood of Tufah. Another fatality has been recorded in the Nuseirat refugee camp.
Simultaneously, Israeli forces maintain strong ground pressure at various points in the Strip. In the south, in Khan Younis, extensive demolitions of infrastructure by the Israeli Army have been documented, accompanied by gunfire in the Rafah crossing area, according to local press.
The authorities of the Gaza Strip, under Hamas control, updated this Saturday the death toll and place it at 1,445 Palestinians killed by Israeli attacks since the ceasefire came into effect, while at least 74,228 have lost their lives since the start of the offensive launched after the attacks of October 7, 2023. This count includes seven new "martyrs" and 20 injured in the last 48 hours.
