Five people have lost their lives after a fire broke out at a chemical plant located in the town of Krasnozavodsk, on the outskirts of Moscow, according to Russian authorities.
Firefighters located the bodies among the debris of the burned building, as explained by the acting president of the Sergiev Posad district, Alexei Luyetski, quoted by the Russian news agency TASS.
"I regret to inform that five lifeless bodies have been discovered during the debris removal," Luyetski pointed out in a message posted on social media.
The relatives of the victims are receiving attention and psychological support. "We are doing everything possible to help and support the families," he added.
Authorities continue to carry out air quality measurements due to the possible release of chemical substances, although for now they maintain that there is no risk to the population.
The fire originated last Thursday and ravaged an area of approximately 1,000 square meters.
