The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has announced the death of two Mexican citizens as a consequence of the 7.4 magnitude earthquake recorded last week in northwestern Colombia, a quake that has caused nearly 290 fatalities in the South American country.
"There are two Mexicans who unfortunately passed away and the Foreign Ministry is in contact with them, with the families," she noted in an appearance before the media, in which she also explained that condolences have been conveyed to the relatives of the victims in Colombia and "they are being given all the support."
For its part, the authorities of Colombia have updated the official balance, reducing the number of fatalities from the earthquake to 287. Likewise, they have raised the number of injured people to 4,147 and maintain the count of missing persons linked to the disaster at 194.
