The president of Iran, Mazoud Pezeshkian, stated this Friday that his country "will not surrender" in the face of military threats from the United States and Israel, and urged his Armed Forces to measure their strength face to face instead of "attacking the infrastructure and the livelihood of the people."
In the context of the BRICS summit, the bloc of emerging powers that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and other recently incorporated partners, held in New Delhi, the Iranian leader criticized Washington and Tel Aviv for the war that began last February and accused them of trying to intimidate the Iranian people, who, he emphasized, "will not bend" and are willing "to counterattack."
"Today, Iran has successfully faced Israel and the United States simultaneously; they want to intimidate us, and we will not be intimidated. We will never bend before them. If they pressure us, we respond," he stated during a dialogue with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
At the same time, Pezeshkian accused both countries of falsely presenting themselves as "defenders of Human Rights" when, in reality, they would be "true terrorists," referring to the American bombings on Iranian territory that caused the death of 168 female students from a girls' school.
"In reality, they are the demons, the true terrorists, because they murdered 168 schoolgirls in an instant, thanks to their modern technologies. Do they call us terrorists? And you, who kill human beings, bomb scientists, and attack schools and hospitals?" he denounced.
In this line, he challenged the armies of the United States and Israel to fight on the ground against the Iranian forces, which, he insisted, "will never surrender."
"If you have enough courage, fight against the soldiers, against the military. Why do you attack the infrastructure and the livelihood of the people? The people of Iran will not surrender. We believe in human values and we believe that all human beings, all humanity, enjoy the same rights," he emphasized.
The meeting between the Indian Prime Minister and the Iranian president took place on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi and marks the second meeting between the two in less than two weeks, following the meeting held on August 31 during the SCO Summit in Bishkek.
On the other hand, Modi has reiterated that India's position is to resolve any conflict through dialogue and diplomatic means. He has also emphasized the importance of redoubling efforts to consolidate lasting peace and stability in the region, protecting freedom of navigation and trade in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the security and well-being of the sailors who transit through the area.
