At least seven people have lost their lives and three others have been injured this Saturday after an Israeli airstrike on the Lebanese town of Ansar, located in the Nabatiye district, in the governorate of the same name, in the south of the country, despite the ceasefire agreement signed in June between Lebanon and Israel.
Emergency and rescue teams were working in the area to remove the rubble from the destroyed building and recover the bodies, as well as to transfer the corpses and the injured to nearby medical centers, according to information released by the Lebanese news agency NNA.
At the same time, Israeli fighter jets have carried out new airstrikes on the strategic hill of Ali al Taher --described by the Israeli Army as an important "stronghold" of the Shiite militia party Hezbollah-- in the vicinity of Nabatiye al Fauqa.
The Lebanese authorities estimate that more than 4,300 people have died and about 12,200 have been injured due to the operations of the Israeli Army against Lebanese territory since March 2, the date on which clashes with Hezbollah resumed.
The bombings continue despite the agreement reached with the Lebanese government, which includes the disarmament of Hezbollah and a gradual withdrawal of the Army in southern Lebanon. Israel maintains that it continues to act, even with the ceasefire in effect and in full dialogue about the disarmament plan, arguing the presence of "terrorist infrastructure" of the group that, it claims, poses a direct threat to its forces.
