The authorities of Colombia have updated the number of deceased to 295 due to the earthquake registered on August 10 in the department of Chocó, in the northwest of the country. The new balance, released this Saturday by the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), keeps the number of injured at 3,935 and the number of missing persons at 320.
The earthquake has impacted 15 departments and 448 municipalities, where a total of 54,008 affected families have been counted so far, which amounts to a total of 115,461 displaced persons.
Regarding material damages, the tremor has destroyed nearly 15,000 homes and caused the collapse of 66 buildings in the areas hit by the earthquake. Likewise, damages have been recorded in 241 health centers, 2,612 educational centers, and 3,621 community centers.
Concerning infrastructure, the UNGRD has confirmed damages to 298 roads, 59 aqueducts, 49 bridges, and five airports spread across the affected areas.
