The Russian Embassy in Sweden reported this Thursday an alleged "attack" against its headquarters carried out by two drones. According to their version, one of the devices allegedly dropped a bucket of red paint and the other allegedly impacted within the premises with a "false explosive device", something that the diplomatic mission interprets as "an attempt at intimidation" against its personnel.

In a statement released on its social media, the legation detailed that the incident occurred around 2:00 AM, at which time "a quadcopter dropped a bucket of red paint on the diplomatic mission's facilities".

"A second drone, which had a false explosive device attached to it, fell, apparently not by accident, onto our territory, right next to the Russian Embassy building," the mission specified, subsequently emphasizing that "this indicates that it is not a simple provocation, but a flagrant attempt to intimidate the staff of the Russian mission."

"We can sincerely say that it will not work," stated the Embassy, which also remarked that "it should be noted that these types of incidents have become systematic in Stockholm," while Swedish authorities have not yet publicly commented on what happened.

The legation also recalled that "in accordance with the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the Swedish authorities are obliged to ensure the inviolability and security of foreign diplomatic missions" present in the country.

"However, in practice, Swedish law enforcement agencies only formally register attacks against the Russian Embassy," the diplomatic representation denounced in its note. "The investigation into these provocations, which now number in the dozens, has yielded no results in more than two years," it concluded.
