The forces loyal to the internationally recognized Government in Yemen have reported that they have managed to stop an assault by Houthi rebels against their positions located south of the Haifan district, in the Taiz governorate, in a context of increasing armed clashes on different fronts of the country.
According to the press center of the regional command of the Tur al Baha district --which includes areas of the Lahj and southern Taiz governorates-- units of the Fourth Infantry Brigade managed to repel the Houthi attack, also assuring that the "terrorist militias" have suffered "great losses".
In recent hours, the Yemeni Executive has communicated a succession of offensives against Houthi positions in several governorates, including Marib and Al Jauf, as well as in points located east of the city of Taiz, which increases the fear that the conflict will rapidly spread to other areas of Yemeni territory.
In light of this resurgence of violence, the United Nations special envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, has called on all parties to end the "escalation" in Yemen and to ensure the protection of the civilian population and civilian infrastructure, following the most pronounced increase in hostilities "since the ceasefire negotiated by the UN in 2022".
