Three people have lost their lives this Monday when the helicopter they were traveling in crashed and a fire subsequently broke out on the Greek island of Sifnos, part of the Cyclades archipelago.
The president of the Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospital Workers, Michalis Giannakos, has stated, in comments reported by the newspaper "Kathimerini," that there were no survivors among the occupants of the aircraft: the pilot, of Greek nationality, and a couple of foreign tourists who had hired a private flight.
The aircraft crashed near the Monastery of Panagia Brysi shortly after taking off from the helipad located in the Tholos area, which caused a fire at the site, according to the Fire Department's report via their social media.
After receiving the alert about the accident, several personnel were dispatched to the impact site in a vehicle, to which a "rescue team from Siros aboard the RAFNAR speedboat of the Fire Department" was later added.
