The United States Army reported this Sunday that, since the reactivation of the naval blockade against Iran, it has ordered the diversion of a total of 70 merchant ships. In addition, it has proceeded to immobilize three vessels and to board two others as part of this operation regarding the ports and the Iranian coast.
"As of August 23, U.S. forces have diverted 70 commercial ships, immobilized three, and boarded two to ensure compliance with the regulations," the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) reported in a message on social media.
According to the conditions of the blockade reestablished by Washington against Tehran in mid-July, the affected ships were heading to Iranian port facilities or departing from them, and have been subject to various measures by U.S. forces to ensure the enforcement of these restrictions.
From the Islamic Republic, a direct warning was issued to the White House this same Sunday, emphasizing that if the pressure of the "economic and trade war" against Iran persists, "not a drop" of crude oil will leave the Persian Gulf region.
This message was disseminated after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the launch of a new economic offensive against the Asian country, an "isolation on an unprecedented scale" that he has asked his international partners to adhere to.
