The forces of the Yemeni government recognized by the international community reported this Thursday the interception in the waters of the Red Sea of a ship that supposedly transported material intended for the production of drones for the Houthis, directly pointing to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as responsible for the shipment.
According to the data released by the Yemeni official agency SABA, the Navy has taken control of a vessel that was carrying "equipment used for the manufacture of unmanned aerial vehicles." The state media adds that "The equipment was smuggled by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and was intended for the Houthi terrorist militias."
At the same time, the Yemeni government forces have thwarted an attack attempt by the Houthis against several islands in the Red Sea and have managed to shoot down a drone in the area. So far, no details have been provided about possible victims, and the Yemeni rebels have not yet reacted to these accusations.
These actions are part of an escalation of clashes recorded in recent weeks between the Houthis, supported by Iran, and the forces loyal to the Yemeni government, backed by an international coalition led by Saudi Arabia, in a context of blockage of the peace process aimed at ending the war in Yemen.
