The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, intervened this Monday via videoconference in the meeting of the Coalition of Volunteers for Ukraine, convened coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the restoration of the country's independence.
From the department headed by Albares, they emphasize that Spain "has a firm commitment to Ukraine," as well as to "a just and lasting peace" in the region, which must be "sovereign and independent, within the full respect of its internationally recognized borders."
In this line, the Ministry emphasizes that Spain maintains "its utmost condemnation" in the face of the incessant Russian attacks against Ukraine, especially "those directed at the civilian population and critical infrastructure."
In this context, Foreign Affairs highlights that Spain "will continue to support Ukraine in the diplomatic, military, financial, and humanitarian fields, in coordination with its European partners and allies."
Likewise, Spain is part of the founding group of the Ballistic Missile Coalition, whose objective is to strengthen Ukraine's defense against threats that jeopardize European security. At the same time, Spain supports Ukraine's accession process to the European Union and the reforms that the Ukrainian authorities continue to advance despite the difficulties arising from the war.
