The Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, General Secretary of the PSPV-PSOE and socialist candidate for the Presidency of the Generalitat, Diana Morant, urged this Saturday to achieve victory in the upcoming regional elections to "transform Valencian society" against the policies of PP and Vox. "We are going to enter together through the door of the Palau de la Generalitat in eight months," she stated.
Morant delivered this message during her speech at the Political Conference of the Valencian socialists, which is being held this weekend at the University of Alicante (UA) under the slogan 'Recover what matters'. The meeting has brought together, among other leaders, the Secretary of Organization of the PSOE, Rebeca Torró, Minister Arcadi España, and the candidates for the mayorships of València, Alicante, and Castelló, Pilar Bernabé, Trini Amorós, and Rafa Simó.
The socialist leader defended that her party can offer an "alternative" for the Comunitat Valenciana because, she emphasized, the citizens need a new Consell and the PSPV is "obligated" to present a project with "ideas," "desire," and "hope." "A change is indeed possible," she stressed.
In her speech, she highlighted the importance of regaining the majority in Les Corts Valencianes to "govern again" and "overturn the Francoist laws, the sexist laws, the LGTBIfobic laws, the laws of national priority." "We are going to return to the foundational values of democracy," she pointed out, while calling to "protect" public education and claimed that "every right" and "freedom," healthcare, universities, and every "social advance" are essential.
Memory of the victims of the dana
During her speech, the socialist candidate to lead the Valencian government also remembered the victims of the dana of October 29, 2024, and their families, to whom she assured, they will "never" "abandon" until they "have the answers and truly reparative justice."
"We are going to open the doors of the Palau de la Generalitat to the victims of the dana," she stated.
