Podemos has presented in the Congress of Deputies a series of parliamentary questions directed at the Government in order to clarify the actions of the Police during the demonstration in defense of the right to housing held in Valencia.

Through its general secretary and deputy, Ione Belarra, the party is asking for explanations from the Ministry of the Interior to determine which political or police command directly ordered the charges against the people participating in the protest.

The purple party also demands precise data on the material used by the agents, specifically how many rubber bullets were fired and how many canisters or devices of tear gas or irritant were used in the operation. In its statement, Podemos considers it "necessary" to clarify the reasons and responsibilities of a device that it labels as "disproportionate" in the face of a "peaceful mobilization" in defense of the right to housing.

The registered questions also include a request for information on the total number of people injured as a result of the charges and the use of gases, as well as whether the Ministry of the Interior or the Government Delegation has contacted the affected individuals to inquire about their situation.

Another of the doubts raised by the party refers to compliance with the regulations on identification: it asks whether all the agents of the Police Intervention Units present in the operation had their police identification number visible during the action.

Podemos urges the Executive to "investigate what happened, clarify the corresponding responsibilities, and guarantee the right of citizens to peacefully demonstrate without being subject to disproportionate police actions."

The regional coordinator of Podemos, María Teresa Pérez, has denounced that "the police of the PSOE Government has disproportionately charged against peaceful citizens who demand to access decent housing while the real dangers are the landlords who were today at the real estate congress at the Palau de les Arts."

Furthermore, she emphasized that "this violence will not stop us, people are fed up with speculation and we are going to stop the country with a general strike to end the housing business."
