The president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has assured that if he continues at the head of the Executive after the general elections on November 29, the program 'La Revuelta' of TVE will remain on the public channel's schedule. At the same time, he has warned that a potential Government of PP and Vox in La Moncloa would imply the imposition of "censorship".

"I aspire to renew for four years, 'La Revuelta' if it wants four more years on Televisión Española," he declared during an interview in the very space, conducted by David Broncano and broadcast by Europa Press.

The head of the Executive has defended the role of public television, emphasizing that "the public service of public television is also to make people laugh with intelligent humor and make people go to bed happy, optimistic, which is also needed in this country".

In this line, he has pointed to Castilla y León, where PP and Vox govern, and has indicated that there they are going to "cancel subsidies for films that they consider ideologized". Likewise, he has denounced that in Valladolid they "have just suspended" a theatrical representation of a work by Federico García Lorca. "That is censorship," he criticized, before emphasizing: "That kind of thing does not belong to 21st century Spain, we must not allow the past to advance".

Sánchez on Rufián and the state candidacy project

At another moment in the conversation, Sánchez addressed the proposal for ERC leader Gabriel Rufián to head a left-wing candidacy at the state level, and he admitted that from the beginning he sensed that the idea would not move forward.

"Because in the end, ERC is an independentist party," he recalled, although he admitted that the PSOE has been able to understand itself with the Catalan republicans on numerous issues and push forward joint initiatives. Even so, he insisted that "it is a left-wing party but it is independentist" and, therefore, he did not see that shared strategy as viable across the country.

Felipe González, Aznar and the relationship with former presidents

Regarding former Prime Minister Felipe González, who this Thursday announced that he will not support the PSOE in the general elections on November 29 and will opt for a blank vote, Sánchez has acknowledged that he currently does not feel "very identified" with his proposals. He has recalled, however, that he joined the PSOE inspired by his figure and that he liked "that Felipe of the 80s," something that, he said, he has personally commented on when they have coincided.

Regarding José María Aznar, he has stated that "he is not in a position to give lessons" for "how he left" La Moncloa after his eight years in office. He also revealed that he was the first former president to contact him when he arrived at the Presidency in 2018, after the motion of censure against Mariano Rajoy, and conveyed to him: "I put myself at your service."

Sánchez has explained that he maintains communication with former presidents and that he has turned to them at key moments, such as at the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, to understand their view on the conflict. According to him, all "failed" in their forecasts and the majority agreed that Ukraine would fall within weeks.
