The president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has reiterated his intention for the next general elections to be held in 2027 and to remain in office "until the last day" of the legislature, although he has emphasized that the call will be made considering the "general interest".
In an interview on the program 'El Intermedio', reported by Europa Press, he has again stressed that the general elections are scheduled for 2027 and that the parliamentary mandate is four years, "also when the left is in power".
When questioned about the exact date, that is, whether he will opt for an advance to hold them in the first months of the year or if he would prefer to wait for the regional and municipal elections on May 23 to pass, he leans towards exhausting the planned calendar.
In this regard, he has indicated that his plan involves presenting the General State Budgets (PGE) and then checking what parliamentary support he has to approve these accounts and the rest of the legislative initiatives. "Depending on the general interest, I will call the elections, but my ambition is to complete the legislature and be president of the Government until the last day".
