The general secretary of the PP, Miguel Tellado, has attacked the Minister of Transport, the socialist Óscar Puente, whom he has defined as "Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer from Aliexpress" after "getting sentimental at a rally after having called a party colleague a rat." At the same event, he has sarcastically remarked that the PSOE is the "party of love," although, as he emphasized, it is about "love for kickbacks, the sewers, and corruption."

Tellado has participated in a PP event in Valladolid, where he has been supported by the heads of the list for Congress for the province, María Pardo and Jesús Julio Carnero, as well as by the president of the Valladolid PP, Conrado Íscar, and the vice president of the Junta, Isabel Blanco. From the podium, he has harshly criticized the railway management of the central government and has called for the socialists to receive a "punishment" at the polls, a request he has extended to the Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, whom he has blamed for a "lamentable management" during the legislature.

In his speech, the 'popular' leader has recalled Puente's words, who, as he has pointed out, defended love and harmony after having called a fellow party member a "rat." "Hearing Puente talk about love is a bit jarring," Tellado has stated, before insisting that the "PSOE is indeed the party of love," but listing among its supposed displays of affection "love for crime, for the sewers, for stolen jewels, for other people's money, for kickbacks, and for corruption."

The number two of the PP has also criticized Puente's performance at the head of the railway network and has assured that he "is less concerned about the state of the tracks and trains than about making statements and jokes about railway accidents." Furthermore, he has taken the opportunity to demand Puente's departure from the Mayor's Office of Valladolid, rejecting that his defeat was a mistake, as, according to him, the minister himself would have admitted.

Internal disagreements in the PSOE and criticism of Sánchez

At another moment in his speech, Tellado defended that "the people of Valladolid did not make a mistake, it was a huge success" in evicting Puente from the Mayor's Office. Immediately afterwards, he referred to the internal tensions in the PSOE, mentioning resignations and discrepancies in some provinces regarding the preparation of the lists for the elections on November 29. In his view, these episodes show that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has lost weight within the party and that some socialist leaders have begun to lose their fear of him.

Despite this, he warned that it is not enough to distance oneself now from the head of the Executive, since, in his opinion, both Sánchez and those who have supported him in La Moncloa share the responsibility for the current political situation. For this reason, he demanded that the PSOE receive an "electoral punishment" and emphasized that this sanction at the polls is different from the judicial responsibilities that, in his case, must be assumed by those who have committed crimes.

In the face of internal disputes within the socialist ranks, the Secretary General of the PP has defended that his party wants to focus the campaign on the real problems of citizens, citing among them the situation of the countryside, housing, and tax pressure. In the specific case of Castilla y León, he highlighted the importance of the primary sector and the efforts of farmers and ranchers to maintain the economy and prevent the depopulation of towns.

Defense of the countryside and fiscal proposals from the PP

Tellado has denounced the bureaucratic and fiscal burden that agricultural operations bear, considering that professionals in the countryside are forced to dedicate too many hours to administrative procedures and to pay taxes that do not adequately reflect the impact of frosts, droughts, or floods. In this scenario, he assured that the primary sector will again be among the priorities of a hypothetical PP government led by Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

Among the measures already advanced, he mentioned an agricultural taxation law that adjusts taxes to production cycles and allows farmers and ranchers to reserve resources in good years to face bad periods. Likewise, he has promised to cut bureaucracy, firmly defend the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in Brussels, and oppose any cuts to its funds. He has also announced that those under 40 who decide to continue with the family agricultural operation will be exempt from the transmission tax, in order to promote generational change in the countryside.

The 'popular' leader has emphasized that agricultural policies must serve to maintain economic activity in rural areas and has condensed his approach into the idea that "without the countryside, there is no Castilla, and without Castilla, there is no Spain."

Housing and criticism of the PSOE's double standard

In terms of housing, Tellado has accused the PSOE of applying a double standard and has cited the situation of the socialist spokesperson Montse Mínguez as an example, whose departure from active politics he has linked to controversies over housing and the assets of her family environment. In this regard, he has stated that the slogan that best defines the socialists is "do what I say, not what I do."

In contrast, he has assured that the PP wants to place housing among the priorities of the campaign and has announced that his party will promote three laws in the first hundred days of a potential Feijóo Government: a new land law, a specific law against illegal occupation, and a reform of the Horizontal Property Law.

Internal support and support for Mercedes Cantalapiedra

At the beginning of his speech, Tellado dedicated a few words to Mercedes Cantalapiedra, who will be the 'number two' on the Senate candidacy for Valladolid, to convey the support of the national president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. He emphasized that her case is "the struggle of all" party members. "I want to tell you that your struggle is the struggle of all, that we are by your side and that we are looking forward to you being able to be here sooner rather than later," he stated, expressing his satisfaction at being able to accompany her personally on a walk through the city.

In addition, he explained that, given Cantalapiedra's personal circumstances, the meeting would be held outdoors, avoiding closed spaces and large crowds.
