The Ibero-American Secretary General, Andrés Allamand, has highlighted the role of King Felipe VI in the ties with the countries of Ibero-America, emphasizing that "he has an enormous influence" over the leaders of the region.
During an informational breakfast organized by Europa Press, Allamand explained that, in the inauguration ceremonies of Latin American presidents, the Spanish monarch "does something that nowadays almost no one could do" due to political polarization: holding meetings with both the outgoing president and the new head of state.
"He has that tremendous power of influence and recognition," stated the head of SEGIB, who also praised the figure of the emeritus king, Juan Carlos I, and emphasized that both act as "harmonizers" because they contribute "to building a very important climate."
Likewise, he pointed out that in the international events attended by Felipe VI, he is usually "the most applauded" and becomes "a magnet" for the different political representatives. For this reason, he argued that the King is a figure of great relevance for the international community, where he plays "a very strong role" so that "political turbulence" does not have an impact. "He is the great asset," he concluded.
