The King held a telephone conversation this Wednesday with the president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, to whom he conveyed the "support of all Spain" to the autonomous city on the occasion of the Day of Ceuta, in a context marked by the crisis triggered by the massive entry of migrants at the end of July. According to the Royal House, Felipe VI also insisted on a message of unity and coexistence.
On August 6, the monarch had already met with the Ceuta president at the Palace of Marivent (Palma). After that meeting, Vivas explained that Felipe VI had expressed his intention to be able to travel to the autonomous city once the crisis caused by the arrival of more than 70,000 migrants on July 30 and 31 was overcome. This same week, the head of the Executive reiterated that this visit will take place when "the conditions are right for it," although without specifying a concrete date yet.
Coinciding with the celebration of the Day of Ceuta, the King has contacted Vivas again to reiterate "the support of all Spain" to the city on its festive day, "especially due to the situation it is suffering, appealing for unity and coexistence."
During the call, Felipe VI also wanted to recognize the work done by public servants, volunteers, social organizations, various guilds, and representatives of religious confessions, to whom he thanked for their dedication in managing this migratory emergency.

Shortly before that conversation, the Royal House had disseminated an institutional message for the Day of Ceuta in which it emphasizes that the Crown supports the autonomous city and highlights the importance of "unity" and "coexistence."
"Today, September 2, is the Day of Ceuta. The Crown and everyone, with our city. Unity, coexistence, and future," states the brief text shared by Zarzuela on social media, accompanied by an image featuring the flags of the autonomous city, Spain, and the European Union.
With this gesture, the Royal House reminds that Ceuta, like Melilla, is part of Spain and the European Union and, taking advantage of the day on which concentrations have been called throughout the country in solidarity with the people of Ceuta, publicly reiterates the support of the Kings to the Ceuta citizens.
