The coordinator of IU Andalucía, Toni Valero, will run in the internal primaries of his organization with the aim of being one of the electoral references that make up the Frente Amplio candidacy in the upcoming general elections.
According to sources from his environment indicated to Europas Press, Valero arrives at this process supported by the backing of various leaders of the formation, including representatives from territories such as La Rioja, Euskadi, Asturias, Murcia, or Extremadura, in addition to Andalucía, which constitutes the largest federation of IU.
The same sources emphasize that Valero takes this step with a clear priority: to focus on the defense of the popular classes and to put in the foreground, in the midst of the political dispute over housing, that his proposal seeks to end the "privileges of that minority that profits from the anguish of the working class."
Furthermore, they highlight that the current deputy in Congress for Málaga has a deep understanding of the Andalusian reality, the result of years traveling through different municipalities of Málaga, Sevilla, and Cádiz in the exercise of his profession as a History teacher in Secondary education.
Valero took over the coordination of IU Andalucía in 2019, succeeding the current federal leader of the formation, Antonio Maíllo, and in 2023 he made the leap to Congress as a deputy of the confederal group Sumar.
For this reason, he presents himself in the primaries as a "leader with experience to assume responsibilities and with an organization close to the territory," who defends that a "broad left is accompanied by a political demand: that unity serves to advance and that agreements translate into improvements that working people notice in their pockets."
In parallel, IU is immersed in adapting its internal primary process to the new calendar resulting from the electoral advance, while maintaining conversations with Comuns, Más Madrid, and Movimiento Sumar to finalize the details of the Frente Amplio candidacy for November 29.
