The PP attacks the Government's regulation on data centers and labels it as the end of Spain's technological future.

The PP accuses the Government of hindering data centers with a decree that, according to Nadal, ends the technological future of Spain and the options of Extremadura.

The Deputy Secretary of Economy and Sustainable Development of the PP, Alberto Nadal, has harshly criticized this Saturday the regulations promoted by the Government to regulate data centers, stating that it represents the "end of the technological future of Spain" and the "end of the possibilities of Extremadura."

From the land where a data center of Merlin Properties is planned to be built, in Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres), Nadal has defended that the country needs "favorable" legislation for the deployment of new technologies, against the Royal Decree Law drafted by the Executive, which, in his opinion, "makes the development of data centers impossible."

"In practice, it is the end of the development of data centers in Spain if this Royal Decree is approved as the Government has proposed. That is to say, it is the end of the technological future of Spain, it is the end of the possibilities of Extremadura, of being part of new technological developments, of the new creation of jobs and of quality employment, high-level, as Extremadura has never had in its history, because its geographical situation of isolation prevented it," Nadal has assured.

The popular leader has reiterated that Extremadura has "a great future" linked to the implementation of new technologies, which require "energy" and "space." In this sense, he has emphasized that data centers are capable of attracting investment, boosting economic activity, and generating qualified employment, both direct and associated with the creation of a technological ecosystem in the community.

At the same time, and beyond the warnings about the limitations derived from the legislation promoted by the Government of Pedro Sánchez, Nadal has emphasized that these facilities require an "immediate" reinforcement of the electrical grid, and has denounced that the central Executive has not allocated resources "at all."

For this reason, he has reiterated the commitment of the PP to implement a "shock plan" to solve the problems of access to the electrical grid within a maximum period of between 12 and 18 months.

Nadal has toured the area where the data center will be located accompanied by the head of the PP list for Congress for the province of Cáceres for the general elections on November 29, Cristina Teniente, who has stated that "the only Government that can guarantee the continuity of Almaraz beyond 2030 is that of Alberto Núñez Feijóo," a demand, she emphasized, "absolute" for the province of Cáceres and for the whole of Extremadura.

The PP candidate has recalled that, in this legislature, the nuclear power plant has faced "a threat of closure" and several votes in Congress against its extension, with the vote against from the socialist deputies from Extremadura. "We know what that means for the development and employment of our region," she has stated.

Teniente has defended that Almaraz constitutes one of the essential axes for Campo Arañuelo, the province of Cáceres, and Extremadura, and has warned that the draft Royal Decree on data centers represents "a stab in the back to the sector, to development, and to the expectations of industrial progress" of the community.

"Enough is enough. It cannot be that we have a Government that has been a burden for all this," the candidate has pointed out, who has emphasized that initiatives like that of Merlin Properties, with the capacity to mobilize "billions of euros" and generate hundreds of direct jobs and thousands of indirect ones, "will only be a reality" with a Government led by Alberto Núñez Feijóo.
