The national spokesperson of the PP, Borja Sémper, criticized this Monday the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, for "exculpating Morocco emphatically," insisting that 80,000 people cannot move through its territory to the border without the knowledge of the Moroccan authorities. At the same time, he questioned that the head of the Executive points to Israel, Russia, and a "far-right international" as responsible for the massive entry of migrants recorded at the end of July in Ceuta.
Sémper has ironized by stating, "He only lacked blaming Franco," after Sánchez highlighted in an interview on "cadena SER" that there is "no information" linking Morocco to the origin of the crisis in Ceuta and that there are no data from the State Security Forces or the Intelligence Services that provide "any doubt" about Rabat's involvement in the migratory avalanche.
In an appearance before the media at the national headquarters of the PP, after the meeting of the steering committee chaired by Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the popular leader assured that, a month after the events, they can "verify" that Sánchez shows "enormous diplomatic delicacy" with Morocco while exhibiting "surprising hardness" towards the citizens of Ceuta.
An "impossible to justify" narrative, according to the PP
"The president of the Government says that his Government is investigating what has happened but already exculpates Morocco emphatically and accuses a far-right international of what happened," Sémper denounced, emphasizing that these statements reveal that Sánchez lives installed in "a permanent narrative" that on this occasion, in his opinion, "the narrative is impossible to justify" with what the Spaniards perceive and "is leaking."
In this context, he stressed that, for the PP, Rabat also has part of the responsibility in the crisis. "Does anyone believe that 80,000 people can move through a country and enter another country illegally without the country of origin knowing?" he asked, to add immediately afterward: "Does anyone believe that the intelligence services of a country, in this case ours, do not detect that 80,000 people are moving through a neighboring country with the intention of jumping and entering our country irregularly?"
The popular spokesperson has criticized the Government for pointing to "Russia, Elon Musk, Israel, the hoaxes, the fake news, and the far-right international" as culprits. "This conspiracy theory should concern all Spaniards. And in any case, obviously there are responsibilities," he indicated when questioned about what degree of responsibility the PP attributes to Morocco for what happened on July 30 and 31.
Accusations of "lamentable fiction" and ineffectiveness
The deputy secretary of the PP has maintained that, a month after the start of the crisis, the situation "has worsened" and has insisted that the Executive "remains entrenched in a lamentable fiction and is completely overwhelmed." In his opinion, it is a Government "overwhelmed by its ineffectiveness."
According to Sémper, political responsibilities "cannot be dissolved among contradictory versions, administrative silences, and presidential vacations." He warned that "Sánchez will probably try to turn Thursday into his appearance (in Congress) into another exercise in propaganda. But there is something that no longer depends on his narrative: what citizens are seeing through the media and that justice will also investigate."
