The secretary of Organization of the PSOE, Rebeca Torró, has held the PP responsible this Thursday for instrumentalizing the trip of former Prime Minister José María Aznar to Ceuta to "fuel the conflict" generated by the migration crisis, "scratch votes" and set "the path for Feijóo".
In a message disseminated on her X profile, Torró denounced that the PP has sent to Ceuta the "war lord", whom she attributes a "funereal and disastrous curriculum" in crisis management, referring, among other episodes, to the conflict of the islet of Perejil and the disaster of the "Prestige".
The socialist leader also recalled that the "popular" former president "never wanted to make, nor did he make any institutional visit to Ceuta" when he held the Presidency of the Government and insisted that his current presence in the city, 24 years later, responds exclusively to electoral purposes. "He returns 24 years later to do the same as always: ask for votes," she emphasized.
According to Torró, the PP takes advantage of Aznar's visit to "throw more gasoline on the conflict" and make a "partisan use" of the situation that Ceuta is going through, with the intention of demanding a change of Executive. "This is the Génova brand: confrontation and electoral gain above the interests of citizens," she stated.
The head of Organization of the PSOE also maintains that the PP "has long ceased to be a state party" and accuses its president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, of having "delegated his functions to Aznar". In her view, this decision confirms that the "popular" have chosen to turn the situation in Ceuta into a clash scenario with the central Government, instead of contributing to reduce tension.
CRITICISMS FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF MINORS
In parallel, Torró has criticized the lack of solidarity from the autonomous communities governed by the PP with Ceuta in the distribution of unaccompanied migrant minors.
"It is very easy to be patriotic by wrapping oneself in a flag, but when solidarity has been requested from the PP communities to host vulnerable children, they have closed the doors to Ceuta," she stated.
The socialist has claimed the response of the central Executive and has emphasized that the socialists "not only proclaim solidarity, but also practice it." "The Government of Spain has allocated all the necessary material and human resources to the city of Ceuta," she defended, before stressing that the Executive "has been, is, and will be with Ceuta until normality is restored" to the people of Ceuta.
