Vox has filed a complaint against the Government delegate in the Balearic Islands, Alfonso Rodríguez, whom they blame for having allowed the protest held last Friday against the presence in Maó of the leader of the formation, Santiago Abascal.

According to what the party has explained on its social networks, they attribute to the Government delegate the commission of an electoral crime, a hate crime, and another against the right of assembly.

The formation maintains that, after the incidents recorded days earlier at similar events in A Coruña and Avilés, Rodríguez "knew the risk" of authorizing a concentration of antifascist groups in the vicinity of the rally.

According to the document submitted to the Court of First Instance of Maó, the delegate would also not have deployed a sufficient police force to ensure that the political event took place normally and without incidents.

If the opening of preliminary proceedings is finally agreed upon, Vox requests that the files of the convocations, the risk assessment reports, and the orders related to the police operation designed for that day be sent.

The complaint details that the attendees at the concentration, whom they also demand to investigate, would have exceeded the authorized space, blocked the exits of the square, and thrown chairs and other objects at the agents. It is also stated that the vehicle in which Abascal was traveling was surrounded, hit, and struck by the impact of a chair.

In light of this situation, the National Police opted to charge in order to disperse the 200 to 300 protesters. One of the participants, a 32-year-old woman, had to be hospitalized and spent the night at the Mateu Orfila Hospital after being treated for multiple traumas.

Reaction from Més per Menorca

At the same time, Més per Menorca has expressed its rejection of the "repression against movements that take to the streets peacefully to defend an antifascist Menorca."

"Menorca is a land of peace and coexistence. The fascism of the far right is a threat to human rights, freedom, and our identity as a people," the formation has stated on its official account on the social network X.
