The Formula 1 is holding the Dutch Grand Prix this Sunday, the twelfth race of the 2026 World Championship and the last scheduled at the Zandvoort circuit. The race starts at 15:00 hours and is scheduled for 72 laps.
Lando Norris starts from pole position after winning the qualifying on Saturday. The McLaren driver shares the front row with George Russell, while Kimi Antonelli, leader of the World Championship, starts third. Oscar Piastri, Lewis Hamilton, and Charles Leclerc complete the top six positions.
Verstappen, out after an accident and red flag
The race has started with a twist. Max Verstappen has suffered an accident on the first lap after losing control of his Red Bull in a banked corner and ending up against the wall. The car has lost a wheel and the debris has forced the race to be stopped with a red flag.
The Dutch driver was able to exit the car on his own and confirmed via radio that he was fine. Verstappen had started the Grand Prix from seventh position.
Alonso and Sainz, forced to recover
The two Spanish drivers face the race from lower positions. Carlos Sainz starts 17th, while Fernando Alonso starts from 18th position, after neither of them could advance past Q1 on Saturday.
Alonso arrives at this event with the challenge of taking advantage of the improvements introduced by Aston Martin and Honda, while Sainz looks to recover positions with Williams.

Last F1 race in Zandvoort
The 2026 Dutch Grand Prix also has historical significance. Zandvoort hosts its last Formula 1 race this Sunday, after the circuit decided not to continue on the calendar from 2027. The track returned to the World Championship in 2021 and has since become one of the most recognizable venues of the championship.
LIVE UPDATE: the race is temporarily halted due to the red flag caused by Verstappen's accident. Positions, main incidents, and the final result will be updated here as the Grand Prix progresses.
