The Association of Producers and Exporters of Strawberries from Huelva (Freshuelva) has concluded in Guatemala and Honduras a selection process of 878 new seasonal workers with agricultural experience, who will join from January 2027 the tasks of harvesting red fruits in the associated companies, as detailed by the employers' association in an informative note.

In the case of Guatemala, after three days of interviews and tests, 166 new professionals have been chosen, while in Honduras 712 workers have been incorporated in a process that lasted a week and began in the town of Nacaome. These 878 employees will integrate into agricultural tasks alongside the repeat personnel from previous campaigns, within the framework of the hiring programs at origin.

With this type of processes, Freshuelva aims to anticipate and organize the labor needs that its associated companies convey to it, "guarantee an orderly incorporation" and "advance in the diversification" of the countries of origin of the workers.

During the visit to the region, the delegation of the association held several institutional meetings with government representatives and the diplomatic corps. Among them, the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare and Employment of Guatemala, María Victoria Claudia Nineth, and the Minister of Labor of Honduras, Fernando Puerto, as well as the Spanish consular authorities in both countries. In these meetings, possible operational improvements were analyzed to accelerate the processing of visas and optimize the coordination of movements.
