The delegate of the Andalusian Government in Jaén, Erik Domínguez, emphasized this Monday that "extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) has become, by its own merits, a quality seal associated with the province."

He stated this during the visit he made to the La Loma oil mill in Baeza, along with the territorial delegate of Agriculture, Fishing, Water, and Rural Development, Soledad Aranda, one of the four companies that are part of the Castillo de Canena group.

"We have enormous challenges, but also enormous potentials. Quality is a symbol and partner of olive oil thanks to a change in the production system and the strong position of early harvest oils," he indicated.

Domínguez, who toured the facilities accompanied by the director of Castillo de Canena, Francisco Vañó, highlighted the commitment of this oil mill "to modernization and evolution in a sector, as evidenced by its more than two centuries of history and its trajectory as one of the first to produce early oil in the world in the picual variety."

In this line, he acknowledged the work of the olive oil company "for its work, for its research, and, above all, for believing in a sector as the future of the province."

"Wherever you go, you will always find oil from Castillo de Canena and that is key in a sector that, in the province of Jaén, has already awakened to the commitment to quality, innovation, and R&D+i," he added.

During his stay in Baeza, the delegate reiterated the strategic weight of the province of Jaén in the olive oil sector, with "a living universe of 67 million olive trees, the largest humanized forest in the world where nature, humans, and agricultural production coexist." "There are few ecosystems in the world capable of yielding so much and doing it so well," he emphasized.

Regarding the new olive harvesting campaign, he expressed confidence and emphasized that "there is no longer a need to convince anyone of the quality" of Jaén's olive oils, "not only for their nutritional components but also in terms of health." "The future is of the olive grove, the future is of the EVOO," he concluded.
