Next Tuesday, October 27, the Education, Science and Universities Commission of the Cortes of Aragón will debate a motion from Chunta Aragonesista (CHA) urging the Government of Aragón to adopt urgent measures in response to the conflicts arising in the Educational Inspection of Huesca.
The CHA proposal includes the ex officio review of all disciplinary and informational files opened against teachers in AltoAragón in the last two academic years, as well as the precautionary suspension of any possible sanctions that could infringe on freedom of expression or the legitimate exercise of union action and representation.
The deputy spokesperson for CHA in the Cortes and representative of the party in the Education, Science and Universities Commission, Isabel Lasobras, argues that the Department must take responsibility and put an end to a situation that has eroded teachers' trust in the educational Administration. "It is unacceptable that conflicts continue without a response while disciplinary procedures affecting teachers and the exercise of union representation are maintained," she has pointed out.
The motion also proposes the dismissal of the Head of the Educational Inspection of Huesca and the immediate implementation of an independent audit and investigation into the actions of the Educational Inspection at IES Ramón y Cajal in Huesca and at the Provincial Directorate, in order to clarify what happened, reinforce transparency, and rebuild trust with the management teams and the entire educational community.
Additionally, CHA proposes to review the evaluation criteria and the bureaucratic burden set by the Inspection in Huesca, so that the technical criteria are homogenized with those applied in the rest of Aragón and to avoid situations of possible discrimination or arbitrariness. "The Inspection must exercise its function from impartiality, dialogue, and pedagogical support, not generate inequalities between territories or fuel distrust in public education," Lasobras has stated.
