The spokesperson of the PP in the Cortes of Aragón, Ana Marín, has lashed out this Thursday against the lack of reaction from the PSOE-Aragón after the decision of the Basque Government to grant the third degree of prison to the ETA member Henri Parot, a silence that she has described as "unbearable and unsustainable."
In an appearance before the media, Marín has emphasized Parot's criminal history, whom she has defined as "a bloodthirsty ETA member who caused a lot of harm, a lot, and here in Zaragoza was responsible for the attack on San Juan de los Panetes and the Civil Guard's barracks. An ETA member convicted of 39 murders."
The popular leader has pointed out that among Parot's victims are military personnel, civil guards, judges, prosecutors, civilians, police officers, and minors, "the girls from the Zaragoza barracks." She insisted that this third degree "is not granted for repentance, it is granted for the despicable agreement of President Sánchez and the PSOE with the heirs of ETA. Pedro Sánchez raises walls, Pedro Sánchez crosses all the red lines that mark humanity and common sense, but this, changing the suffering of the victims for votes, is simply immoral."
Marín has attacked the head of the central Executive, whom she has described as a president of Spain "sold to independence, sold to ETA terrorism, sold to Morocco, who is capable of causing additional harm to the victims and to Aragonese and Spanish society. This is not just another concession, this is an immorality and a shame that harms us as a society and as a nation."
The spokesperson of the PP has considered it especially serious that the PSOE of Aragón remains silent and does not publicly condemn the granting of the third degree to Parot. In her opinion, "we cannot believe it, we cannot believe that they remain silent and turn their backs on the victims and the entire Aragonese society. We cannot accept that the Aragonese socialists sit back and remain silent in the face of this barbarity, because that silence makes them accomplices."
In light of this situation, Marín has announced that the popular parliamentary group will register an initiative in the Cortes of Aragón so that the Plenary, "I understand that the entire set of political forces represented in this Chamber, show their rejection, condemn this prison policy in the service of the heirs of ETA and the votes they lend to Sánchez."
The proposal also seeks for the regional Parliament to reiterate its support for those affected by terrorism. "And above all, for these Courts to once again show their support for the victims to whom this Government and this president are causing enormous, incomprehensible, and unnecessary harm. The Popular Party will always stand by the victims, and I hope the entire Chamber will do so," concluded the popular spokesperson.
